Shiraz Boghani moved to London From Kenya in 1969 and started training as an accountant at the Charted Accountants firm. He opened his own accounting practice in 1978. He practiced an account for ten years before moving to his true calling hospitality.
He started Splendid Hotel Group in 1986. In the 90’s Shiraz was one of the first to introduce London to limited service branded hotels. Shiraz Boghani owns and manages 19 hotels across the UK. He recently developed the Hilton London Bankside. Other hotels that Shiraz owns include Holiday Inn London-Wembley, Grand Hotel & Spa, and Brigstow Hotel. Shiraz has over 30 years of hospitality experience and has won several awards including Hotelier of The Year in 2016. The award presented by the Asian Business awards was judged by a panel of peers.
Shiraz Boghani also helped form Sussex Health Care Limited in 1985. Sussex health care specializes in providing care for older people dealing with Alzheimer’s or dementia. They also help younger adults with neurological or cognitive issues. Sussex Healthcare operates 20 facilities including seven full residential facilities. Sussex Healthcare was named a top organization by the European Union. They operate under the motto that people in their care still need social, leisure and recreational activities. This motto works well with Shiraz Boghani’s hospitality background.
Shiraz Boghani also works with a number of philanthropic pursuits in his community. He supports the Aga Khan Foundation in the UK, and worldwide. This foundation helps some of the poorest communities in the world. He has also worked closely with many departments of the Aga Khan University. The departments include the national council, arbitration board, and resource development.
Shiraz Boghani is still a big name in the hospitality scene in the UK. He has used his hospitality experiences to help others in working with Sussex Healthcare, and the organizations that he volunteers with.
